2010 Master Builders Association Excellence in Building awards Newcastle.

Vision Pools completed a large pool designed by Urban Exotic at Dudley in 2009. Some of the inclusions featured in the Dudley pool were:

Vanishing Edge The vanishing edge needed to comply with the pool fencing code by having less than 300mm of water in the balance tank. Vision Pools achieved this by having a secondary balance tank which was fed from the collection tank at the base of the wall. A water leveler built into the bottom tank fills the pool up automatically.

Timber Piles and Above Ground Construction

The pool was designed to be built level with the bottom floor of the proposed house. To do this Vision Pools used controlled compacted fill and driven timber piers to create a stable base. A surveyor then marked the pool out as per the landscape architects design so we could accurately reproduce the design. Above ground form work and additional steel to the pool walls and floor as well as an expansion joint assure a strong structural pool shell.

Automatic Cleaning and Maintenance System

This pool is built in a high leaf area and has a large water volume and surface area. A Paramount PCC2000 infloor cleaning system has been used in the pool, spa and balance tank combined with 4 skimmer boxes. The water is tested and treated automatically with a Chemigem DM52 combined with two Paramount ozone systems to reduce the ongoing maintenance costs.

Fully Tiled Pool

Vision Pools tiling team used templates to render all of the internal surfaces to work full tiles. This resulted in an immaculate tiling finish which was commented on by the MBA judges when awarding Vision Pools with first place.

Heating & Control System

The spa is heated by a Hurlcon Viron 400MJ gas heater. The pool is heated by a hard panelled solar heating system. This was a necessity in this area as large numbers of white cockatoo's live in the trees close by which would eat the conventional pool solar matting. Both types of heating, the pool lights, spa jets and pump operation are all controlled by a Jandy AquaLink automatic pool control system.
